Final Letter to the District

March 1, 2020

My name is Jon Francis. I am running to be your voice and State Representative in Austin.

I am writing this letter to you personally, because you deserve the facts. I believe people make better decisions when they have good information. So here goes.

I have been married to the same beautiful woman for over 27 years. Her name is Jody. She was born and raised in Cisco. Together, we have two boys and two girls. Two are grown and out of the house. Two are still at home with us. We have lived in Cisco for over 20 years. It is our home.

I didn’t decide to get into this race until our current Representative, Mike Lang, decided to not run for re-election just a few short weeks ago. The reason is simple. I like Mike. I like the fact that he is a Conservative and a good man. I would not have run against him, because I am in favor of good Conservative leaders representing our District.

I am very proud of the fact that we all live in one of the most Conservative Districts in Texas. It is one of the reasons my wife and I live, worship and educate our children all right here in HD-60.

I am a businessman, not a politician. For you to know me, it is important for me to tell you about my history. In the last several weeks, another candidate has attacked me to avoid talking about his liberal positions. I think it is important for you to know the whole story. It reminds me of when my kids were little, I’d tell them if they were telling a half truth, they were really telling a whole lie.

In 2015 and 2016, I supported Ted Cruz when he ran for President, and then supported Donald Trump in the general election. Probably like many of you. Since being elected, I believe Donald Trump has been one of the best presidents in our nation’s history. He has delivered on promise after promise. I am immensely proud of him. Glenn Rogers is trying to twist my support of Ted Cruz in the primary to paint me as someone who doesn’t support the President. Don’t believe him.

If you were able to attend any of the forums that Mr. Rogers and I attended together, you would have heard a clear difference in our position on the issues. I have pledged to support the Republican Platform and the Republican Legislative Priorities. Glenn Rogers has not. He has even gone so far as to say he won’t support them, because he supports taxpayer funded lobbying – an unethical practice of using taxpayer dollars to pay lobbyists to wine and dine our lawmakers for higher property taxes – and he opposes constitutional carry, which would further protect the

Second Amendment rights of law abiding gun owners.

In closing, I will just say this: I have been endorsed by people who know me personally. Know what I will stand for and – more importantly – what I will not stand for. People like Senator Ted Cruz and Dr. James Dobson. I have personally worked with these good men and they know me. They know how committed I am to our conservative principles. They know my motivation in running for office is to push back against the Leftists in this culture war and to stop the attacks on our conservative Texas values in Austin. They know the reason is simply that I am willing and able to fight back against corruption and attacks on our conservative Texas values in Austin.

I can promise you that I will fight for our values and do the right thing, even if it means doing so alone. I simply believe one man can make a difference.

Sincerely,

Jon
