Jon Francis Calls for Constitutional Carry & Abolishing Gun Free Zones, a first in HD-60 Race
(Cisco, TX) on Monday, Cisco small businessman and candidate for Texas House District 60 Jon Francis became the first candidate in the race to call for constitutional carry and an end to gun free zones across the state.
“Sunday’s attack on innocent church goers is another example of the prevalence of evil in the world around us. That is why it is absolutely imperative that our state does everything it can to protect the rights of law-abiding Texans to defend themselves, their families, and their communities. I am proud to announce my support and advocacy of constitutional carry legislation and the abolishment of gun free zones in our state once and for all. I will proudly author, introduce, and tirelessly advocate for both bills when I am elected to the Texas House of Representatives.”
Francis announced his candidacy for the seat following the revelation that incumbent State Rep. Mike Lang (Granbury) would not be seeking re-election. Francis, the long-time conservative activist who has served on the board of organizations like Live Action and PragerU, made headlines in his announcement by pledging to only take contributions from individuals in his campaign and not a dime from lobbyists or PACs.
The Austin establishment, lobbyists, and special interests in our state capitol have long fought to curtail and mitigate the work of second amendment advocates from our community to strengthen our God-given right to self-defense, even at the cost of innocent Texans security and safety. I am ready to take them on and fight to further secure our second amendment rights.”
Francis took to Facebook to offer a brief preview of his Second Amendment prioritie, saying, “You can count on me to defend your second amendment rights,” The priorities were as follows:
Pass Constitutional Carry
End gun free zones
Fight AGAINST red flag laws
Fight AGAINST expanded background checks
Francis is the first and only candidate in the crowded Republican Primary field to announce such sweeping positions on Second Amendment issues to date.
